Satellite-Based Photonic Quantum Networks Are Small-World

چکیده
Recent milestone experiments establishing satellite-to-ground quantum communication are paving the way for development of Internet, a network interconnected by channels. Here, we employ theory to study properties photonic networks that can be generated satellite-based and compare them with those their optical-fiber counterpart. We predict satellites generate small-world networks, implying physically distant nodes actually near from perspective. also analyze connectivity show, in particular, they robust against random failures. This positions as most promising technology distribute entanglement across large distances growing size complexity.1 MoreReceived 25 August 2020Accepted 15 December 2020DOI:https://doi.org/10.1103/PRXQuantum.2.010304Published American Physical Society under terms Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license. Quantum-dot based photonic quantum networks
Quantumdots (QDs) embedded in photonic nanostructures have in recent years proven to be a very powerful solid-state platform for quantumoptics experiments. The combination of near-unity radiative coupling of a singleQD to a photonicmode and the ability to eliminate decoherence processes imply that an unprecedent light–matter interface can be obtained. As a result, highcooperativity photon-emitt...
متن کاملSmall-world Structure in Children’s Featured Semantic Networks
Background: Knowing the development pattern of children’s language is applicable in developmental psychology. Network models of language are helpful for the identification of these patterns. Objectives: We examined the small-world properties of featured semantic networks of developing children. Materials & Methods: In this longitudinal study, the featured semantic networks of children aged 1...
متن کاملQuantum computing of delocalization in small-world networks.
We study a quantum small-world network with disorder and show that the system exhibits a delocalization transition. A quantum algorithm is built up which simulates the evolution operator of the model in a polynomial number of gates for an exponential number of vertices in the network. The total computational gain is shown to depend on the parameters of the network and a larger than quadratic sp...
متن کاملRenormalization and small-world model of fractal quantum repeater networks
Quantum networks provide access to exchange of quantum information. The primary task of quantum networks is to distribute entanglement between remote nodes. Although quantum repeater protocol enables long distance entanglement distribution, it has been restricted to one-dimensional linear network. Here we develop a general framework that allows application of quantum repeater protocol to arbitr...
متن کاملSmall-world networks
Popular folklore asserts that any two people in the world are linked through a chain of no more than six mutual acquaintances, as encapsulated in the phrase “six degrees of separation”. Some evidence in support of this claim arose from the experiments of an American sociologist, Stanley Milgram, in the 1960s. He gave letters to people in Nebraska and Kansas, addressed to a recipient in Boston a...
